Opens
The Opens age group included exceptional performances from the
junior athletes asked to compete up an age group. The work of Oscar
Osborne, Cambell Johnston, Jethro James and Ben Clarke in the 3000m
race, highlighted the attitude the Waverley College men had towards
stepping up to compete against older and more experienced athletes.
They were not afraid.
The Opens age award for Best Team Man was presented to
Jordan Dunlop. Jordan was a quiet achiever. Jordan put every bit of
effort he had in him into training as well as competition. Jordan never
complained about injuries or illness, and his actions were instrumental in
building the positive spirit in the team, particularly the middle distance
squad. Jordan’s attitude and determination epitomised what every
athlete at Waverley College should strive to be like.
Other notable performances in the Opens age group included
performances from Matthew Booth, Patrick Byrne, Oliver Cupitt-
Osborne, Gabriel Farley, Victor Moffroid, Nicholas Nearchou and
William Paterson.
